Do you have a savoury or sweet tooth? @karlapowellmua

Fear no more with Karla Powell's on going quest to satisfy both our tastebuds and visual cravings with her latest food inspired make up images. Her technique and application of unusual pieces on the face is fantastic! Who would have thought to use strawberries as part of a piece of make up art... Karla of course! Karla definitely takes something that can be overlooked as an art to it's extremes, stretching the full potential of make up and creating mind blowing images, that never fail to bore me visually.

My favourite (possibly because it's inspired by the infusion of chocolate and orange, my fav)...
I love this set of images, I like how KP has strongly contrasted the porcelain like skin tone against the rich and thick chocolate that takes over the majority of the models body. I also love how KP has used accents of orange to add a delightlful burst of colour the images. The way that Karla has kept the face make up plain (apart from the chocolate down the side) and has focused on a strong dark chocolate lip colour that works equally as well with the eye make up, which in retrsopect is a lot lighter than the chocolate spread across the body, however still dark enough to create a beautiful contrast against the skin and vibrant orange of the peel.

If truffles could take human form, they would take this one. The composition of both the model and image compliments the hair piece and the body paint (chocolate) as the viewer is able to see the full effect instead of beautiful detailing being hid.

I am personally inspired by Karla's style of make up artistry, as I love how she takes the approach that anything can be turned into make up! Amazing, I am planning a splurge on crown brushes since they are so highly recommended by Karla herself, beauty bloggers and other make up artists.

I look forward to meeting her at Imats!
