Today I visited Urban Outfitters in Newcastle for some research for our latest project at university (more on that later!) and I managed to have a good look around. Unlike most people who frequent the store, I was more drawn to their collection art and design books. I saw an absolutely beautiful illustration book called Illustration Now! 4 and it reminded me how much I love the characteristics and quirks of illustrations.

My very good friend Hanna (visit her blog here!) is studying Illustration at University and every time I see her work it makes me want to pick up a pen and start sketching! So I thought I’d post this inspiration blog about one of my all time favourite fashion illustrators, Leigh Viner. Maybe it will encourage me to start drawing again!

I first came across Viner’s work on Trendland a few years ago and was blown away by her ability to combine different medias in such delicate way to create stunning compositions. Using pen, ink, paint, pencil and even digital media she creates visually stimulating illustrations that are both eye-catching yet subtle and soft. The mark making in her compositions is absolutely phenomenal and I love the very hand-done sketchy style of her drawings.
