I have a funny little theory in my head as to why I love make up brushes. To me make up is something more than just putting the products on your face... to me it's like an art, where the face acts as a blank canvas and the make up brushes are your art tools. In my case, my face really is a blank canvas as I choose to shave my eyebrows clean off. Why on Earth do I do this you may ask, well basically I like the freedom of having them any shape, any colour and I can also draw them higher than my natural brows :) This does have a relevance to brushes, as without a certain little cheeky brush, my eyebrows wouldn't look as real as they do.
MAC 187 - DUO FIBRE - £32.50
I have had this brush for a while now, but I've never done a real review telling you why I admire this brush. I use this brush every time I use my foundation, first I put the foundation of the back of my hand and blend a new shade together if I am using two different tones. I then dab the 187 in the centre of the foundation and then in little medium speed circles I go across the whole of my face. This allows a sheer coverage, but if I want a more heavier coverage I swipe the foundation in the main spots on my face using my finger, and then twirl my brush around my face. The reason why I rate this brush over say I flat foundation brush is because I feel that it buffers and distributes the foundation evenly and effortlessly, where as I find the flat head brush sometimes creates streaks, which isn't good.
The price is a bit pricey compared to some of the other brands on the market, however what you pay, you get back in quality. The quality of this brush is amazing! Here is a list on pros and cons :) :-
Pros +VE :-
- Blends effortlessly and flawlessly!
- It can create anything between a light coverage and a full coverage depending on how much foundation you use.
- The bristles do not come out
- It's fun to apply your make up with, and it feels beautiful against your skin.
- Super Soft bristles.
- Handle is firm and allows you to take full control.
Cons -VE :-
- Theres nothing I would really say that makes this brush not worth the price, however I do understand it is pricey, and the brush itself requires to be cleaned every week as the white parts lets you know how dirty it gets with make up.

MAC 208 - Small Angle Brow Brush - £16.00
This brush has honestly been sent from heaven, I am in love with it, and it helps me draw my eyebrows on each day flawlessly. I have tried the Revlon 'smokey eye' angled brush which has a similar angled brush, however I feel that this one is too thick for what I want. The nib of this brush is so thin, you would think that the bristles are flimsy, however they are quite course, which is what I want really as it allows the brush to pick up the eyeshadow and allows me to dristibute and even amount of the product over the brow. I start using an eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown, or a shade to match my pencil. I then use an eyebrow pencil in either MAC Lingering, which is a soft taupe brown or Illamasqua Fine Pencil in peace which is a more darker brown than the MAC pencil, so this allows me to change the occasion of my eyebrows. For daily wear to either college or work I would normally use my MAC pencil, but if I was to go out say on a night out or a family occasion I would then use the darker shade by Illamasqua. The next thing I do after applying the pencil is to use my 208 brush to make sure that all of the edges of my eyebrow are sharp, this brush allows me to glide over the softened edge with either more eyeshadow or just on its own and it really makes a difference. To add a realistic detail to my eyebrow I use this brush yet again, and in a darker shade of eyebrow I use quick brush stroke across the eyebrow to create a look of darker hairs.
Pros +VE :-
- Bristles are thin, but are powerful
- Carries the product extremely del
- Can be used for eyebrows, but eyeliner as well as it is thin and it is an accuracy brush.
- Even though the bristles are quite course, they are still gentle and soft
- I personally think £16 is rather cheap for a brush this quality.
Cons -VE :-
- Eventhough the handle is still stable, I feel that the thinness of the handle makes me feel that I could snap it, but other than that its perfect.

222 MAC - TAPERED BLENDING BRUSH - £22
This brush is discontinued, I picked this brush up at the CCO for £14, and boy what a bargain for the things that this brush allows me to do! It allows me to blend eyeshadow on a cut crease upwards effortlessly! It allows me to take a tiny bit of pigment onto the brush and swipe across my eyelid to create a beautiful flush of colour. I love how this brushes bristles aren't too short, aren't too long they are just perfect and the denseness of the brush allows me to control where I want to blend the colour, rather than just blending it everywhere!
Pros +VE :-
- For what I use it for, the price is really cheap! Check your CCO's!
- Like the other brushes I admire the densness, the easiness and the distribution of colour.
- I love the ability to create flawless smokey eyes etc.
Cons -VE :-
- It's discontinued :(
