I must admit there are a few products that I have seen that seem similar to older products by Illamasqua, but they seem to have been improved in terms of tone of colour, which is good I suppose.
If you've been keeping up with the latest news from Illamasqua, we all know that they allowed the public to vote by tweeting, facebooking or pinning their favourite three products from the new collection, and then they would release those three first prior to the whole collection being released.
I will start by looking at the three products that have been released which are the two quad pallets in Empower and Complement, and the gleam highlighter in Aurora.
Empower - Quad Pallet - £34
This is the first quad that has been released, as you'll be able to see I would describe this quad as being more natural and an everyday quad of eyeshadows, in comparison to the deeper and more moodier tones of the other pallet.
I think it is clever the way that they have combined two shimmers being the second eyeshadow which is a pale pink iridescent glitter (synth) , the reddish earthy gold with multi shimmer which is called Fervent which is the third eyeshadow clockwise. I also like how they have used a matte nude beige being the first, and a nice liquid metal in slick, which is the charcoal grey. I think this is an idea pallet to play around with, especially with creating a nice smokey eye effect, whether you want to go au natural and have the nude eyeshadows, or go all out and glam and be inspired by the liquid metal slick.
Would I buy this? Yes ! I actually would, I think it has some good core tones, and I think it would be ideal in what I would use it for.
Complement - Quad Pallet - £34
This is the second of the quads, and the second product that was released earlier than the others. I really like this one as I like the more gothic and moodier tones of the eyeshadows. I think that it is a pleasant contract compared to the first quad. I like how they have combined two mattes with a liquid metal and a shimmer. Like the first pallet they have used a liquid metal to kind of give the possible looks an alternative tole. However I think that this liquid metal works well with the plum colours of both the shimmer eyeshadow and the other plum matte.
Would I buy this product? Yes I think I would because I think the colours are absolutely beautiful! Especially in contrast with the first one.
Highlighter - Aurora - £18
This is the product that my friends and I all agreed that we liked out of the collection. I really like this product, and apparently the formula has been improved so I look forward to trying this out if I get a chance. This is a highlighter which is a cream compact made from iridescent pearls in a light champagne colour, that lifts and highlights the designated area where you have placed it with your fingers or brush.
I think I would buy this product, as I think it is vital to highlight your skin to make it look realistic instead of matte, well for my instance anyways because I use a matte primer instead of the satin, to appear more masculine.
Shimmer Blush - S.O.P.H.I.E - £18
This is the second blush in the series, personally I won't be buying this because I prefer a matte blush to a shimmer and it isn't in the tone that I would personally pick as I don't like coral shades. The shade of this blush is a golden coral shimmer, I think this work well for anyone who likes rosy cheeks or I think it work well on tanned faces to contour the face.
I'm unsure whether any of the proceeds will be going to the Sophie Lancaster foundation, however I expect it will be as I know and understand that Illamasqua supports the foundation after releasing previous products that have been in support.
Shimmer Blush - Allure - £18
This is another shimmer blush in a dusky rose pigment, from what I can see it would be an ideal colour for myself to have used to contour my face, however I'm really unsure on shimmer blushes so I think I would have to try it out for myself in the shop when I go to Leeds. I would say that it is a darker version of S.O.P.H.I.E.
Intense Lipgloss - Boost - £14
Described as a blueberry Violet, I think that this piece is beautiful and would look lovely on everyone apart from me, I simply do not think I suit this shade however the pigmentation of the lipgloss looks so intense, which is possibly why it is an intense lipgloss and not a sheer one :P It does remind me of a past one, however I really can't think of the name, but the colour looks so much more vibrant compared to the other one that I am thinking of.
Intense Lipgloss - Opulent - £14
Out of the two lip glosses, I think that I personally prefer this shade to the violet, however I tend to sway more the nude colour of lips. This one is described as a rainbow nude, and I can see why, the glitter within the lipgloss looks to die for! If I was a lipgloss I would want to be Opulent. I think that £14 is a bit pricey, however I doubt that you would need a lot to build up on your lips of this lipgloss! INTENSE.
Precision Ink - Wisdom - £17
I really like this precision Ink as I think it is my shade of gold, I don't like a gold that is too bright because I don't think I suit it, and I'm sure many of you's out there will have the same opinion. Even though this is a gold eyeliner that can be used eyes, body and EVEN NAILS! I think the darkened look of the gold looks more appealing :) Do I think that £17 is worth it? Yes of course you can use it anywhere you please!
This series is available for release on the 5th of September so I hope all of you's are looking forward to it!
And I have a fabulous Q&A with a mystery quest coming your way ;) Stay tuned!!!
xx
