This season we saw models hit Burberry's, Missoni's and Giles' runways with fierce and eye catching matte lips in scarlet, corals and fuchsias! OH MY! There are loads of companies that sell Matte finish lipsticks, however my favourites are MAC's Russian Red, Fresh Amour, Pink Plaid and Illamasqua's Lipstick in Liv. I think these shades are fresh, and definitely bring a pop of colour to the face especially with a neutral nude face.
Do not let the face fool you! A lot of work has gone into this piece of art. What I recommend doing is priming that beautiful canvas and then layer the first coat of paint on. I use Skin Base in 02. I then set it using translucent powder 010 from Illamasqua. This creates a perfect starting point for your contouring and your eyeshadow, whilst still keeping it in the natural group.
For the eyes, Urban Decay to an excellent Palette called Naked 2 from Debenhams, this is a very similar palette to the first Naked palette by Urban Decay, we'll find your typical Matte Nudes with a few shimmers thrown in. I would stick with the mattes for the lid, crease and V and then using a shimmer to highlight the brow bone.
For the Pale Skinned Girlies :-
1. Start with Urban decays primer potion in nude, you can buy the matte one as well :) Slap that all over the lid and make sure it is soaking into every crease and cranny!
2. I recommend using the shade bootycall, which is the third shade on the palette. I would recommend using a flat head brush such as the 239 by mac and packing it on the lid.
3. Using the first shade, Foxy create a crease using a blending brush such as the 217 by MAC. Or any short blending brush will do. You could even use the one you used using Bootycall, as Foxy will just go over the top of the lighter shade. What we do next is lightly apply this from the crease up to the brow bone, this will create a lovely crease colour for you to start applying a bit of shadow to it.
4. Because this is a nude/ natural look, I recommend using a lighter brown. Don't go too dark as it will look like you're wearing eyeshadow, and we don't want that for this look. Using Tease and the blending brush, lightly apply it in the outer corner of your eye creating a side ways V. You can see me demonstrating it HERE!
5. Then using the lightest shimmer eyeshadow, gently go underneath the brow.
If you are tanned, No problem! I have you covered!
Follow the steps above, but substitute the following colours!
Bootycall - Tease
Foxy - Pistol
Tease - Snake Bite
As for blusher I would suggest using Illamasqua's powder blusher in disobey, this is a lovely taupe blusher and is amazing for contouring. What we do is start at the top of the ear and feel with your brush where your cheek bone is naturally and aim to create the contour underneath. PERFECT!
