MMMMMMMM GIRL. YOU ARE DIRTY! Wash your Brushes!

If you don't understand my title, basically a quick look at how I wash my dirty dirty dirty brushes... tut tut tut *shakes head*.

Brush Structure 401.

Here is a quick illustration of a dirty and then cleaned brush! WASH THOSE SINS AWAY!

A cleaned brush is as important as going out the house not looking like a scruff (dirty person). Yes, if we do not clean our brushes just imagine all that bacteria getting on your clean face... mmhmhmmmmmm tasty!

Cleaning brushes helps us prevent spots, prevents spreading diseases and infections if we use it on clients and to make them look clean, new and sparkly again!

  1. STEP 1! Get your cleaning equipment and rubber gloves! (maybe not that far, but if it adds to effect then do so)
  2. I have chosen a brush cleaner by MAC (as per £9.50). So what you need is a small dish, sink, a towel and somewhere clean and unlikely to be disturbed by family :P.
  3. Pour a tiny amount of the cleaning solution into the dish and then dilute it by adding 50ml of clean water.
  4. Start the dipping and swirling! Get your dirty brush and then swirl it in the solution, get your towel and then stroke the towel backwards and forth until all of the product is cleaned off the brush.
  5. The next step is to simply wash the brush in clean water, and then hang over a ledge to dry until all of the brushes are cleaned.
  6. Carefully wrap the cleaned brushes in a clean towel and leave them in a dry and undisturbed place until dry.
Another simple way of cleaning your brushes if you do not have a brush cleaning formula is :-
  1. collect your brushes and towel like before.
  2. Purchase a fragrant free baby shampoo (it's soft on the skin ;) ).
  3. Wet your brushes and then work the shampoo into the brush, you'll notice the product coming out of the brush.
  4. Next run it under warm water until all of the product is out. A good way to test this, especially with white brushes is that you'll be able to see the original colour without any discolorment. (in most cases) I have obtained a green foundation brush thanks to dressing up as Maleficent.
**Please note that when cleaning brushes, wash them facing down. If any water gets into the ferrule, it will loosen the glue holding the hairs together and you will then start to get shedding hair. NOT PRETTY, finding a hair on your face that isn't yours and belongs to a goat...**
