Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t been very regular with updates recently, been a busy lady with university and various other things, need to get a routine going.
One of the things I have been up to is writing for Bowler Magazine- an up and coming online magazine ran by fashion students and enthusiasts who are looking to show their own collections or simply wish to have the opportunity to write for a magazine. I have been given the opportunity to write for them on a fortnightly basis as their Beauty Writer and this week my first post went up on the site.
I was so excited about this post because I managed to get in touch with a very established make up artist to ask her beauty tips for these autumn and winter months. Karla Powell is the key make up artist for MUA Cosmetics- which is as some of you may know, one of my favorite affordable make-up brands. I follow her religiously on Twitter and Facebook as she works freelance too and creates some fabulous avant garde looks for various occasions. So as you may imagine I was delighted to hear back from her and she gave some fantastic advice for the coming seasons which I rounded off into an article for Bowler!
Red Lips
I am obsessed with red lips so I love the fact that red lips are not going anywhere this season, the only update this time around is a palette that’s surprisingly more bright, bold and electrically charged than the winter hues we’re used to seeing on the runway. FashionistA Double Take Longwear lipstick in shade ‘Coral’-£6 is the perfect shade for this trend.
Minimal Make Up & Real Skin.
There’s always space for minimalist make-up, and a lot of the make-up artists and designer have been showing minimal wearable make-up each season lately. Standing in the face of winter’s big colour statement comes that cool, pretty healthy glow that trips off the runway straight into real life effortlessly. The catwalk also showed a ’real people’ feel matched with the bare faced creating invisible bases. But don’t be fooled, this takes work so spend extra time prepping, hydrating and correcting for flawless make-up.
Here are my top tips to create a Minimal Make-up and Real skin look this winter:
Natural beauty: Keep eyes soft and lightA delicate peachy shade applied lightly into the crease will help complete the minimal makeup look. Use a brush that is not too dense or it’ll deposit too much product. Finish with a mascara that provides definition (I recommend Look Beauty Stretch factor) and curl your lashes first to open up your eyes subtly.
Natural beauty: It all starts with great skinTaking care of your skin is first and foremost — and this is especially important now with the season changing. I recommend using an oil-based moisturiser as we transition into colder weather. Look for ones containing almond oil, avocado and primrose, for example, which will create a protective layer on the skin. I suggest Origins A perfect World- SPF 25.
